Unlicensed contractor pleads guilty to defrauding Camp Fire survivor, faces three years

Just because a contractor says they’re licensed doesn’t mean they are. This was true with Kristofer Chivrell, a man who was paid $5,000 upfront to do some housework.

In most stories, the contractor takes the money and runs, but in this case, Chivrell admitted he didn’t have the ability to do the work, and was then arrested for not having a license. Like how an officer checks people for the driver’s license, always check your contractor for a license as well.
